Buckle UP Copper Country to Protect Little Lives

Posted November 20, 2023

Parents, guardians, childcare providers, teachers, and all caring individuals share a common bond – a deep and unwavering commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children. It is a responsibility that transcends all other considerations, and it is something we all unite behind.

Motor vehicle traffic crashes are a leading cause of death of children. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that in 2021, more than 1,180 children under the age of 14 were killed in traffic fatalities and more than 162,200 children were injured. A properly installed and correctly used child car seat significantly reduces the risk of injury and death.

BHK Child Development’s Giving Tuesday cause is both simple and profoundly impactful: to raise funds to provide child car seats and booster seats for Copper Country families in need. These seats are not just a convenience but a crucial line of defense, protecting children during every ride. “Some children who truly need a new car seat are not able to meet the requirements of the state program. This opportunity will allow those children to be provided an appropriate safe car seat and to receive child passenger safety education for the whole family,” said Judy Pruner, Child Passenger Safety Technician.

BHK’s mission does not stop at providing these essential seats. In addition to the seat itself, certified car seat technicians will educate families on the proper installation and use of these seats, ensuring that each child is as safe as possible during their travels.

Knowing a child is securely fastened in a car seat or booster designed for their age, weight, and height can provide invaluable peace of mind.

Donate today and be a driving force behind this life-saving mission. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will champion equitable access to car seats and protect children from harm.
