BHK Child Development Celebrates 50 Years of Strengthening Families and Community

On Thursday, June 27th, BHK hosted a 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Bonfire in Houghton to commemorate five decades of strengthening and supporting positive outcomes, economic stability, and well-being for children, families, and the community.

Established in 1974, BHK has evolved into a dynamic and multifaceted human service organization, positively influencing the lives of tens of thousands of children and families across Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw Counties. From the humble beginnings of a half-day summer preschool program to current full-day, full-year programs, BHK has consistently pioneered collaborative and outcome-based initiatives that have withstood the test of time.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration included a silent auction that featured items from 24 local donors. All proceeds raised from the silent auction supported the BHK Foundation scholarship fund.
